December 13, 2022Simplify! ASAP
(Greg Bell, Author & Thought Leader)
I have shared with many of you that Greg Bell is one of the people I heard speak a few years back. He is the Author of “Water the Bamboo” and “What’s Going Well”. He is also a great motivator; and in my opinion, a thought leader who energizes audiences everywhere he goes. I encourage you if you have not read either book, to get one.
In my message, I wanted to highlight something I just read in one of his posts. I hope you like it. It is all about how to simplify your life by being systematic. It can help you be more effective and efficient. It will also give you peace of mind.
Below are six strategies that he shared:
- “Clarify Your Goals and Values: it’s easier to cut activities that don’t fit your values and vision”
- “Stop and Think About ASAP: get to the core of your projects and thank about how you can make them as simple as possible”
- “Remove Obstacles That Make Your Life More Complicated: Eliminate any and all activities that are not serving you or others”
- “Stop Majoring in Minor Activities: eliminate the busy work and nonwork and work on your top priorities”
- “Stop Trying to Do All Things: do what is important to you. You have 168 hours a week; use your times strategically”
- “Take a Retreat: to think about simplifying your personal and work life can help gain clarity and perspective. How can you make life simpler and determine what activities you can cut”
If I am being honest, I know what I was thinking when I read this-old habits are hard to break; and what do I let go of? What is the real end result that I am looking for in the process? We all know to get to where we want to go, we must know how to get there by staying the course with the vital few and creating that discipline that keeps us on track.
As always thank you for letting me share. I wish all of you much success in your journey.
