The primary focus of Lake Stevens, Washington, is the lake itself, with many opportunities for recreating along its shorelines. Parks also feature predominately here, including Eagle Ridge Park, which has seen the same nesting pair of bald eagles return for so many years the locals named them. “George” and “Martha” have been returning to the same nest since approximately 1992, and watching their youngsters grow and leave the nest has become a seasonal activity in the town.
For a break from the water, check out the Lake Stevens Historical Museum, located downtown, and see artifacts from the town’s pioneer and timber days. For a more kid-themed activity, go to the Imagine Children’s Museum, 20 minutes away in Everett. The kids can immerse themselves in hands-on activities and entertainment. This museum was voted “Best of Northwest Escapes” by Evening Magazine in 2010.
