Welcome to Our Community

Longview is a great place to live, work, and play. 90 miles from the Pacific Ocean and an hour from both Portland and Olympia, Longview is a relatively new city. Less than 75 years ago, this area was a sparsely populated wilderness with only a handful of rural homesteads.

The crowning jewel of Longview is Lake Sacajawea. Sparkling with activity, you can walk, jog, or bike on the 3.5 miles of trails, or hit the water in your canoe, kayak, or catch a fish. Take in the scenery from one of the picnic shelters or come by for one of the outdoor movies.

Longview has attracted international attention for its Nutty Narrows Bridge – a squirrel bridge allowing squirrels to cross a busy thoroughfare away from cars. There are now 4 squirrel bridges throughout the city and more are in the works.

A positive, proactive, and hopeful community attitude is prevalent in Longview. Described as a successful learning community, life-long learning is the norm with enhanced educational programs including adult education opportunities and recreation programs for all ages.
