Many Pacific Northwesteners have visited Coeur d’Alene in the summer for the fantastic water activities on Lake Coeur d’Alene, or in the winter for skiing at nearby resorts. But those who live here know that the beauty of the city and its surroundings lasts year round, as does the friendly spirit of the people.
Located on the Idaho panhandle, not far from both Spokane, Washington, and Sandpoint, Idaho, Coeur d’Alene is a vacation destination, but it’s also a growing city with an ever-increasing number of full-time residents. The city itself sits on the shore of the Lake of the same name, and both are surrounded by the Coeur d’Alene National forest, a beautiful evergreen paradise that spans more than 1,100 miles and three Idaho Counties.
Coeur d’Alene is a prime location for outdoor lovers. The lake provides boating, kayaking, swimming, water skiing, and even lodging. That’s right, visitors can rent house boats or pontoons that are both cozy and luxurious.
The Coeur d’Alene resort is a favorite destination, and is home to one of the United States’ finest golf courses. The 14th hole is especially unique—the green is on a moving, floating platform—the only one in the US.
Winter sports are a popular attraction in Coeur d’Alene as well. Skiing and snowboarding at world-class resorts are just minutes away. And with our wet, cold winters, fresh powder is common!
Homes in Coeur d’Alene range from houseboats and condos on the Lake to cabins in the woods and single-family homes in friendly neighborhoods.
