Camano Island, WA

A family friendly island only 15 minutes off I-5 and an hour north of Seattle, Camano Island is a great place to get in the island mood. Small county parks offer convenient boat launch sites, easy beach access, and breathtaking views.

With only a handful of country-style grocery stores, a few restaurants, and limited lodging, you’ll find a real-life island living experience here with no trendy tourist traps. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to do. This island is packed with activities, indoors and out: parks, nature preserves, canopy tours, art studio tours, golf, and plenty of beaches. A popular spot for fishing, this is one of the few places that has a variety of fish available in every season.

There are a little over 15,000 year round residents on Camano Island, and the population grows by several thousand in the summer. There are two elementary schools on the island, though the bulk of students attend school in nearby Stanwood.
