Washington ranked as the best state to work during the pandemic. Here’s why
The study, from Oxfam, ranked states based on worker protections, healthcare and unemployment support. It looked at issues including mandated paid sick and family leave policies, state-level loans and grants for small businesses, expanded Medicaid and telehealth services, expanded unemployment support and eviction moratorium policies.
“When COVID-19 delivered a shattering blow to the economy in 2020, it put millions of working families at risk of illness, homelessness, and hunger,” the report said. “The federal government response was slow and halting.
