“Welcome to the event that celebrates the community of Tigard! The 35th Festival of Balloons in Tigard will be held June 21st – 23rd, 2019. The hot air balloons are definitely the featured attraction of the Festival, but … it’s MORE than balloons! The Festival is a place for families and friends to gather, play and relax. Join us in the pre-dawn hours as approximately 20 hot air balloons launch into the morning sky (weather and pilot permitting). Spend the afternoon shopping at the craft and vendor booths, eating great food from local food vendors, and also enjoying thrilling Funtastic carnival rides and games.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Festival of Balloons without the ever impressive Night Glow on Friday and Saturday nights (weather permitting); the Rogue Beer Garden, Live Music on the Main Stage; Twilight Run at Dawn, Saturday morning, Festival of Cars on Sunday. and a whole lot more!
In fact, Festival of Balloons is a non-profit organization raising funds for many non-profit groups in Tigard; while providing a premier family event for the entire community. Groups benefiting from Festival funds include: Tigard Breakfast Rotary, Tigard Lunch Rotary, Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin School, THS Boosters, American Cancer Society – Tigard/Tualatin Area Relay for Life, THS Band and Auxiliary Parent Association, Mountain Wave Search & Rescue, Tigard’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Southside Soccer, and more.” (tigardballoon.org)
The event kicks off with hot air balloon launches at 5:45 a.m. (weather permitting) and ends with the “Night Glow.”
Weather permitting, the balloon ascension begins at 5:45 AM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Come early and watch the teams assemble and inflate their crafts. Depending on weather conditions, most balloons launch by 7:00 AM.
There are no balloon rides during the festival; however, following the balloon launches, FREE tethered rides on the main event field are available on a first-come, first-served basis (weather permitting as long as fuel lasts).
Admission is $5-7 for a three-day pass, and is good for unlimited access to the festival.” (tualatinvalley.org)
